Gunman at LAX may have been targeting TSA agents

Police say that a man walked through Los Angeles International Airport on Friday and “pulled an assault rifle out of a bag and began to open fire.” One person, a TSA agent, was killed, and three others were injured. Police chased the man through Terminal 3, and shot him a few times before arresting him.

Officials investigating the incident say that they found anti-federal government materials associated with the shooter, and gather that he was extremely angered by the Transportation Security Administration. A witness of the shooting said that the gunman was walking up to strangers asking, “Hey, are you TSA?” The witness said that if the person responded “no,” the gunman would move on.

A U.S. intelligence official said that there didn’t seem to be “any indications of terrorism” in the shooting on Friday. However, he said that intelligence agencies are in “constant contact with a range of law enforcement authorities.”
