Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez was charged with first-degree murder after he was arrested by authorities on Wednesday. The former tight end is accused of shooting and killing Odin Lloyd, whose body was found in an industrial park.
According to First Assistant District Attorney Bill McCauley, Hernandez “executed” Lloyd after driving him to the industrial park. McCauley spoke in court on Wednesday, saying, “He orchestrated the crime from the beginning. He took steps to conceal and destroy evidence, and he took steps to prevent the police from speaking to … an important witness.” Hours after the arrest, Hernandez was dropped from the NFL’s New England Patriots.
