Connecticut mother charged with leaving infant alone in car

Connecticut residents Lindsay M. Hoffman and her companion Marquette Riggsbee were arrested Wednesday for leaving her 2-week-old infant alone in a cold car. Hoffman and Rigsbee entered an adult novelty store in Southington with the infant, and were told by employees that children were not allowed in. They left and returned without the baby, who remained alone in the car for approximately twenty minutes. Employees checked on the infant and contacted the local authorities. The pair were charged with risk of injury to a minor. Both were held on a $25,000.00 bond. As of now, it is not known if they are represented by a lawyer. The child was taken to a hospital to be evaluated, and state child welfare officials were contacted promptly.
