Boston, the next host for 2024 Olympics?

0

Boston put in a bid to international voters to bring the Olympics Summer Games to the U. S. after a 28-year gap. Boston joins Rome as the only other city that has officially decided to bid. Germany, France and Hungary are also considering bids. The International Olympic Committee will make the final decision in 2017. America’s last two attempts to land the games resulted in fourth-place finishes for New York (2012) and Chicago (2016). Boston impressed the USOC with a plan centering on colleges, compactness and frugality. The next step would be for the USOC to introduce Boston to the world. Though the marathon made headlines worldwide, Boston isn’t a well-known metropolis on a grand scale. Boston beat San Francisco, Los Angeles and Washington on Thursday for the American bid. Bid officials, Mayor Marty Walsh, and Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker recently spoke to reporters at Boston’s convention center to express their excitement as well as announcing community meetings to discuss future plans with residents.
