The Maryland Zoo is asking the public to help name a new resident, a female bald eagle, before she makes her official debut at the facility. The eagle arrived at the zoo in Baltimore recently from National Aviary in Pittsburgh. Zoo officials said the eagle was found in North Carolina in June 2009 and was unable to survive in the wild. She will be housed in the Polar Bear Watch section, where other birds such as ravens and snowy owls also live. She is scheduled to make her debut later on this month. Voting will begin Friday and continue through July 14 at www.marylandzoo.org/eaglename . The names choices are: Scout, Sioux, Migisi (Chippewa for eagle), Annie and Vega.
