Man sentenced after stealing $278K from union

A Maryland man received a nine month prison sentence Tuesday for stealing over $278,000.

Thirty-six-year-old Mario Enrique Meyers stole the money from a union’s pension fund and has been ordered to reimburse the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades which acts as a union for those who paint and perform drywall and glazing services.

According to prosecutors Meyers stole the funds by performing wire transfers and forging checks.
