Twenty-three-year-old Sharmell Thomas received a 26 year sentence Monday in the death of his girlfriend’s toddler.
Thomas, who had been babysitting the child at a Baltimore apartment in June 2011, was convicted of manslaughter.
According to prosecution the little girl was discovered unresponsive and later died in shock trauma.
The cause of death was “abusive head trauma”.
