Gas line break prompts Glen Bernie evacuations

45 homes in Glen Bernie, MD were evacuated Wednesday afternoon after an Anne Arundel County Public Works crew accidentally hit a natural gas line. Baltimore Gas & Electric reports that crews were in the neighborhood to work on  a water main, when the six-inch gas line was struck and ruptured by a backhoe. Due to the large amount of escaped gas, residents within a one-block radius were evacuated. According to authorities, nine residents were yet to return to their homes so as late as Thursday morning.
