Back taxes for Maryland residents

0

Maryland is asking their highest court to consider “double taxation” for residents who have out-of-state taxes taken out of their paychecks. If the ruling is passed, Maryland will have to refund money to residents who have qualified from 2009 through 2011. This could cost the state between $45 million and $50 million a year. Small businesses would be affected the most if the ruling stands, with up to $75 million being refunded from Montgomery County alone. Attorney General Doug Gansler suggests the court either reverse any approval of double taxation or refund taxes that do not trace back to four years ago.
