The bittersweet musical “Once” raked in eight trophies at Sunday’s 66th annual Tony Awards. The musical, a stage adaptation of the 2006 film of the same name, won Best Musical, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, Best Direction of a Musical and several others. “Peter and the Starcatcher” came in second with five awards including Christian Borle’s win for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role. But it was “Clybourne Park” that took home the highly coveted award for Best Play.

The award show, nicknamed “50 Shades of Gay” by host Neil Patrick Harris, was held at the Beacon Theatre in New York. The cast of “Once,” “Hairspray” and “Newsies” all performed, while Hugh Jackman was honored with a special Tony Award for his contributions to the Broadway community.
