Lindsey Gort was passed up for a part after being deemed more of a “young Kim Cattrall-type” by a casting director.
Now a year later she is playing Cattrall’s “Sex and the City” character, Samantha Jones, on the CW’s “The Carrie Diaries”.
On the show set in the 1980’s, Gort plays a young Samantha Jones and describes her as “such an iconic character.”
Gort says the biggest difference with Samantha in “The Carrie Diaries” is she is “in her early 20’s and is not a career woman yet, so she doesn’t have her Birkin bags and her Manolos yet. She’s figuring herself out, trying to figure out where she belongs in this world and having a good time while doing that.”
