Grammys add three categories

The Grammy Awards, which cut 31 categories last year, announced Friday that it has made more changes by adding three awards. The upcoming Grammy categories will increase from 78 to 81. The latest entries include awards for best urban contemporary, which will honor R&B albums that may include elements of pop and rock, best classical compendium, which will recognize albums involving a mixture of classical subgenres, and the reinstated best Latin jazz album. Latin jazz musicians protested and even filed a lawsuit against the music organization, which was dismissed in April, for eliminating the Latin jazz album category. The category removal forced Latin jazz musicians to compete against a larger group of artists in the best jazz instrumental category.

The 55th Grammy Awards will air on CBS on Feb. 10.
