Stephen Colbert’s debut episode on Tuesday with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert reached 6.6 million viewers, rising 203 percent, according to Nielsen. The September 8th episode marks the largest Late Show audience among the 18-49 category since July of 1995, excluding David Letterman’s final week. Colbert’s debut on CBS easily topped NBC’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and ABC’S Jimmy Kimmel Live!. James Corden’s The Late Late Show with James Corden rose to third with 1.9 million viewers after following Colbert.
