President Biden headed to Israel and Jordan on Wednesday to meet with their leadership and address concerns about a larger regional conflict. “The president will reaffirm the United States’ solidarity with Israel and our ironclad commitment to its security,” said Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

Tensions are said to be growing along the Lebanon-Israel border as Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah continue to clash. “The behind-the-scenes calls with us by great powers, Arab countries, envoys of the United Nations, directly and indirectly telling us to not interfere will have no effect,” said Hezbollah’s deputy chief Naim Qassem on Oct. 13. “If the attacks of the Zionist regime against civilians and the defenseless people of Gaza persist, no one can guarantee that the situation will be under control and the scope of the fighting won’t expand,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in conversation with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
