Md. State Trooper charged with assaulting woman

Maryland police say that 32-year-old Sgt. Daniel Baxter has been charged with assaulting a woman with whom he had previously been in a relationship. The incident happened on Sunday morning at Baxter’s Worton home. Police say that Baxter, a 13-year veteran in the force, threatened to kill the woman and chased her with an unloaded gun and box of shells. The woman went to the hospital for head injuries. Baxter is charged with assault and reckless endangerment. He is suspended without pay.
