On Monday, a former campaign treasurer for Virginia Senate Minority Leader Richard Saslaw was charged with embezzling over half a million dollars in campaign funds. Linda Diane Wallis, 51, is scheduled to plead guilty next week in Alexandria’s U.S. District Court. “All of the checks were issued without knowledge or permission of Senator Saslaw or his campaign staff,” Dana Boente, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, said in a news release.
