Teen shot at Deanwood Metro station

Davonte Washington, 15, was shot on Saturday at around 4 p.m. at the Deanwood Metro station. The teenager was reportedly involved in a conversation that escalated into an argument. The second person is believed to have drawn a gun and fired at the 15-year-old victim, according to Metropolitan Police Department District Commander David Taylor. Jack Evans, a Washington, D.C. Council member says the surveillance cameras at the station captured the incident.

Baltimore Ravens Tray Walker’s funeral held

On March 17, the 23-year-old Baltimore Ravens player, Tray Walker, was injured  in northwest Miami-Dade while riding a Honda dirt bike without a helmet. Walker crashed his dirt bike into another vehicle and was taken to the hospital, where he eventually died the following day. More than hundreds of family and friends, and members of the Baltimore Ravens were in attendance at his funeral to pay their respects for the Miami native.

Death toll rises to 67 in explosion in Pakistan

In Lahore, Pakistan, a suicide bomb blasted in the city, causing the deaths of at least 67 people, a local government spokesman told CNN. Officers said that the blast happened at Gulshan lqbal Park, causing more than 300 injuries.  At the time of the blast, many families were occupying the park. A splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the deadly Easter Sunday attack, saying they intentionally targeted Christians.

Sanders victorious in 3 states, Clinton retains delegate lead

Democratic nominee Bernie Sanders won three states in the Western caucus contest this past weekend. Sanders won the states of Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii, giving him an opportunity to close the gap on Hillary Clinton’s lead. In recent weeks, Clinton seemingly anticipated her defeat of Sanders and did not campaign heavily in the three states. She is now focusing on April 19th were New York is up for grabs.  Clinton is favored to win in New York where she served as senator.

Rolling Stones perform free concert in Cuba, making history

On Friday, the Rolling Stones made history by becoming the first major international rock band to host a concert in Cuba. Following the Cuban revolution, rock music was banned on television and radio. “Years ago, it was difficult to hear our music, but here we are,” Rolling Stones front-man Mick Jagger told the crowd in Spanish. “The times are changing,” he added. In 2014, the United States and Cuba announced that they would repair decades of broken relations and the concert by the Stones was one step toward normalized relations.
