Actor and politician Fred Thompson died on Sunday at age 73. Thompson’s political career included a presidential run in 2008 and eight years as U.S. senator from Tennessee. His prominent acting career included a role in The Hunt for Red October, Secretariat, Die Hard 2, and as District Attorney Arthur Branch on Law & Order and its multiple spinoffs. “Fred was one of the only people that I’ve met who was truly a renaissance man. Prosecutor, politician, actor, raconteur — no matter what he did, he did it incredibly well,” said Law & Order producer Dick Wolf in a statement.
