Kate Middleton’s pregnancy off to a difficult start

It’s official. The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is pregnant. However, it has also been confirmed that she is facing challenges early on in her pregnancy. Middleton, at less than 12 weeks pregnant, has been admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London with, to put it simply, an acute form of morning sickness. Doctors say the condition is compromising and uncomfortable, but not a cause for concern. “You can become dehydrated, and the aim of the admission is to rehydrate through intravenous fluids,” says obstetrician Daghani Rajasingham. While many have been anticipating when Prince William and Kate would have a baby ever since they married one and a half years ago, the Duchess’ illness has forced the royal family to make her pregnancy public knowledge sooner than they would have preferred.
