Two children fall into frozen pond in Virginia

Two children are recuperating after they fell into a frozen pond in Blacksburg on Monday. Blacksburg Rescue Lieutenant Will Bulloss stated that the children, a boy and a girl were walking on the pond at an apartment complex and the ice gave way. Bulloss also said that the kids were submerged in the frigid water sometime between five to ten seconds. They managed to escape from the water and onto an island in the middle of the pond, where they waited for help. Water rescue technicians got the children safely off the island. The children were then taken to a hospital for treatment. No life-threatening injuries were reported.
