White House announcement on oral contraception rule for religious groups

The White House has been under fire for setting its new rule requiring employers and religious organizations to provide health insurance that will cover birth control in full. On Friday, the White House, possibly President Barack Obama, will reportedly announce an attempt to accommodate the religious organizations, according to ABC News.

Many religious leaders oppose birth control because it is a violation of their religious beliefs. In Hawaii, the state law allows religious groups to have a choice to opt out of coverage that includes oral contraception; as long as employees are given information that such coverage can be obtained. It is reported that the announcement may not go as far to offer this same law. It is cheaper for health insurance companies to offer coverage because of unwanted pregnancies and resulting complications.
