Two people in custody in relation to last week’s Chicago shooting

Police reported to CNN that the two people taken into custody are seen as “persons of interest” in relation to the Chicago shooting, and that “several people of interest” are undergoing interviews. The two 22-year-old men were arrested on Sunday.

A total of 13 people were shot in last week’s incident in Cornell Square Park, and one of the victims, three-year-old Deonta Howard, is still in the hospital after he was shot in the head.

“It’s got to stop,” said the grandmother of Deonta Howard, and many are supporting that statement as Chicago continues to be prominent in big-city gun violence. In the FBI’s annual crime report, Chicago had 500 homicides in 2012, which is more than any other American city.
