New charges against Sandusky by younger boys surface

Two new cases of alleged child abuse involving former Penn State University Coach Jerry Sandusky have surfaced, sources close to the investigation say. Authorities are investigating the allegations opened by Children and Youth Services. In Pennsylvania, Children and Youth Services handles only cases where the individuals involved are still under 18. In cases where individuals are now adults, it becomes a police matter, even if the events occurred while they were a minor.

If credible, the allegations would be the first case involving current minors since Sandusky’s arrest. In the other cases, the known victims are now adults. Sandusky’s lawyer responded to the report, calling them “copycat allegations.” Sandusky has been charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse against eight boys. He was arrested November 5, and is currently free on $100,000 bail.
