A United States Army soldier was killed on Thursday and two others were wounded after one soldier shot another, then turned the gun on himself at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, according to authorities. Fort Bragg spokesman Colonel Kevin Arata said the shooting occurred during a unit safety brief. All three soldiers were reportedly from the 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade.

Arata said, “We don’t yet know the reasons for the shooting, but are working with the unit and the affected families to help them through this difficult period.” The suspected gunman was injured and taken into custody. A third soldier suffered slight injuries from the shooting. Special agents from the Army Criminal Investigation Command were on the scene and are investigating.
