Gun-wielding teen pacified in high school hostage situation

0

On Tuesday afternoon, a student at Philip Barbour High School entered a classroom with a pistol and took them hostage. The teacher then talked the boy into not letting the next group of students enter the classroom. The police were called, and the rest of the 724 students were safely evacuated to the school’s football stadium. The Police Chief, Jeff Walters, negotiated the release of the students in the classroom and talked the gun-wielding teen into surrendering. After surrendering, he was taken to a hospital for evaluation. There are plans to pursue charges against him, but the court process will not be open because the case involves a juvenile. His name has not been disclosed by the police.
