Fake cancer fundraiser must pay reparations

A Maryland saxophone player was sentenced for wire fraud on Thursday in Missoula, Montana. Donald “Ski” Johnson was sentenced to five years’ probation and six months of house arrest after committing charity fraud. Johnson’s false cancer charity offered to donate two Grammy tickets to an auction for a Montana organization in July 2012, if half the proceeds went to his “Jazz for Life Foundation.” The tickets sold for nearly $5,700 before the organization were warned of the possible scam.
