70 ISIS hostages rescued

An American service member was killed in a helicopter operation against an ISIS-controlled prison in Iraq, the Pentagon said on Thursday. The hostages included more than 20 members of the Iraqi Security Forces and local residents and accused spies. They numbered about 70, and told officials that they would have been executed after morning prayers. “There was not a lot of time,” one U.S. official told CNN on condition of anonymity. “The threat of execution was imminent.”
