A Maryland House committee has approved a bill that could decriminalize possession of marijuana in small amounts. The full House committee is scheduled to vote on the bill after 3:30 p.m on Saturday. If the bill passes, it would eliminate criminal charges for possessing small amounts of marijuana and reduce the offense to the severity of a traffic violation. The Senate has already voted yes and pass a similar bill; $100 penalty for every offense, $250 for a second offense and $500 for a third offense. The House would also make drug treatment and education mandatory for offenders under 21-years-old.
