Maryland man charged in son’s death

The name of father of the child whose death was reported yesterday has been released. John Junek, 40, of Leonardtown, Maryland, has been charged with involuntary murder in connection with the death of his 17-month-old son. The child was left in a parked car at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, where Junek is employed. Junek allegedly did not realize his child was in a rear-facing child seat for nearly seven hours, at which point he called 911. Emergency workers were unable to revive the child. Junek has been released into the custody of his parents.
