A 37-year-old former Justice Department employee is facing a federal felony assault charge after allegedly throwing a sandwich at a Customs and Border Protection agent near 14th and U Streets NW in Washington, D.C., on Sunday night. Authorities say Sean Charles Dunn, wearing a pink shirt, approached a group of CBP officers, called one a “fascist,” and shouted at them before hurling the sandwich, an act captured in a viral social media video. Dunn reportedly tried to flee but was quickly apprehended, later admitting, “I did it. I threw a sandwich,” according to court documents.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro posted a sharp video response, declaring the incident “not funny” and vowing to fully back law enforcement. Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed Dunn was an employee in the DOJ’s criminal division and announced his immediate termination, calling the case an example of the “Deep State” undermining the administration. The incident unfolded as CBP patrols increased in the city following President Donald Trump’s pledge to combat what he labeled “out-of-control” crime in the nation’s capital.
