The diocese of the Episcopal Church of Maryland released a statement Sunday revealing that Bishop Suffragan Heather Cook was the driver in a crash that killed a Baltimore bicyclist Saturday. Tom Palermo, 41, was hit and killed by a driver who left the scene, and then returned 20 minutes later. Palermo succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital later that afternoon. Police refused to release the name of the driver until charges were pressed. Cook has been placed on administrative leave pending any criminal charges or other disciplinary actions.
