For the second time in recent weeks, the Washington Monument was closed for repairs. The facility was closed for about an hour Monday after the structure sprung a leak that was affecting security procedures at the entrance. Access was reopened just before noon. The monument was closed December 18 because of elevator malfunctions, a problem that has been plaguing the structure.
