WHITE HOUSE NEWS – Trump Administration releases $5.5B in school funds after bipartisan pressure

The Trump administration announced Friday it will release $5.5 billion in federal education funds after weeks of backlash over a surprise freeze. The funds, originally set to be distributed July 1, support teacher training, arts and music programs, English learners, and children of migrant workers—particularly in low-income districts.
Facing bipartisan criticism, including a public letter from 10 Senate Republicans and two lawsuits, the administration reversed course. The Education Department said it will begin distributing the funds to states next week. Earlier this month, the White House had released $1.3 billion for after-school programs amid mounting legal and political pressure.
