A stretch of U.S. Route 50 in Annapolis has reopened after a three-foot sinkhole opened up on the highway. All lanes of the highway reopened Thursday morning after road crews worked overnight to fill up the hole with stone to stabilize the road and put in a concrete patch on the surface. The sink hole opened up Wednesday evening. The Maryland State Highway Administration stated that engineers found a metal pipe from the highway’s drainage system that deteriorated and collapsed. The hole was several feet deep.
