Missing boy found dead

The body of a missing 7-year-old boy with autism was found dead inside of a car in an alley beside his Northeast D.C. home.

Police say the body of Michael Kingsbury was found inside of a locked car, and an officer had to break the window to get him out. The boy had been missing since Sunday morning and his body was discovered on Monday evening at 6 p.m., roughly 40 feet from where he was last seen.

The police department stated that the car was located on someone else’s property with no vehicle tags on it. Police had looked in the area near the car when searching for the boy on Sunday.

Michael was last seen on Sunday around 9 a.m. near West Virginia Avenue and Mount Olivet Road in Northeast. Police do not yet know whether the boy had been in the car for the entire 30 hours or whether he returned or was brought back to the area later on.
