Officer accused of threatening the first lady cleared

A D.C. police officer accused of threatening Michelle Obama has been cleared of the charges, but is facing a suspension of his position for certain postings on social media pages.

A department review board said that Christopher Picciano should be suspended for 40 days without pay for conduct that is unbecoming of an officer.

According to officials, detectives discovered postings on Picciano’s LinkedIn and Facebook pages that included a communist emblem overtop a poster of President Barack Obama, with a job description stating that he was a “zoo keeper of the MPD”.

Picciano faced two internal charges related to the alleged threat against the first lady, which he says was a joke. He is a member of the president’s motorcade detail.
