Md. cab driver killed over fare disagreement
A cab driver from Prince George’s County area was fatally shot Saturday in Northeast D.C. following an argument over the fare. The driver, 40-year-old Domingo Ezirike, was shot by 20-year-old Rashad Slye over a 75 cent disagreement. The cab had a chance encounter with police 30 minutes prior to the shooting, when D.C. police stopped Ezirike’s cab at a safety check.
According to police, the argument originated when Slye demanded Ezirike turn on the cab’s heater and radio, and then escalated later over the 75 cent fare difference. Slye is accused of killing Ezirike with a single gunshot.
