The Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Maryland’s handgun licensing law on Tuesday in a 2-1 ruling. The court ruled that the law’s requirements were unconstitutionally restrictive.

“I am disappointed in the Fourth Circuit Court’s decision,” said Governor Wes Moore in a statement. “This law is not about stripping away rights from responsible gun owners – it’s about every Marylander having the right to live free from fear.”
