Maryland gun-control law to be challenged
Oral arguments have been set over the constitutionality of a Maryland law banning 45 assault weapons and high-capacity gun magazines. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals scheduled arguments for March 24. In a filing Friday, gun-rights advocates say the law violates the Second Amendment. Brian Frosh, Maryland’s newly sworn-in attorney general and chief sponsor of the law stated that the law passes constitutional muster to protect public safety. The law bans 45 assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. Maryland lawmakers approved legislation in 2013 in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
