U.S. Park Police say that they took a man into custody after shots were fired Tuesday afternoon near the National Mall. Police believe someone fired shots from a car near the World War II Memorial and Independence Avenue. They found broken glass at the scene and later found a vehicle that matched the description they had received. The man in the vehicle was taken into custody Tuesday evening, but his identity has not been released. A gun was found on Rock Creek Parkway near the Kennedy Center. No one was injured during the incident.
