Lance Armstrong banned from competition for life
World class biker Lance Armstrong, who’s career had for so long been a shining example to athletes worldwide, has been banned from competition after declining to contest doping charges. Five of his former teammates, Levi Leipheimer, George Hincapie, Tom Danielson, Christian Vande Velde and David Zabriskie all received a six month suspension. Their punishment was reduced in exchange for their providing evidence against Armstrong to the US Anti Doping Agency, or USADA. Armstrong has been banned for life and stripped of his 7 Tour de France titles. USADA has scathingly accused Armstrong of leading “the most sophisticated, professionalised and successful doping program that sport has ever seen.” Armstrong accepted the penalty quietly, claiming neither guilt nor innocence.
