China’s Chang’e 6 spacecraft has successfully landed on the moon’s far side in the Apollo Basin, marking the second such achievement for China. The mission aims to collect and return lunar rock and soil samples from this rarely explored region.

The samples are expected to offer new insights into planetary formation and the moon’s history. This mission, involving significant engineering challenges, will gather material from the lunar south pole, potentially enhancing our understanding of planetary crust formation and the origin of water in the solar system.
