Baltimore reaches 200 homicides this year
A fatal shooting on August 11 was the 200th murder of the year in Baltimore. This is a steep rise from last year, where the total number of homicides for the year was 211. The majority of the murders have occurred during the summer, after the uprisings over the Freddie Gray case. With 45 killings in July, Baltimore had the most homicides in a month since 1972. Interim Police Commissioner Kevin Davis has formed a task force including homicide detectives to find a remedy.
