Military child care abuse allegations lead to parental outrage

Allegations of child abuse have been discovered at the military’s largest child-care center at Joint Base Myer/Henderson Hall in Arlington. Va Nessa Taylor, a child-care provider at the Child Development Center has been charged with abuse by federal authorities. If convicted, Taylor could face a $100,000 fine and up to a year in jail. She has been removed from working at the center. Investigators discovered Taylor assaulting four toddlers, hitting and pushing them, on surveillance video. The abuse was reported in January, although other reports have been made for the past two years. Previous alleged abuse led to the center losing its accreditation over a year ago and two works were charged and sentenced with abuse. At least 31 people were suspended from two Army daycare centers at Fort Myer. Parents are outrages and seeking answers as to what’s been going on. The base commander is scheduled to meet with parents Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Spates Community Club.
