WORLD NEWS – Prince Harry, Elton John and others ordered to pay $13 million to Associated Newspapers
On Friday, a High Court judge ordered Prince Harry, Elton John and five other claimants to pay $13 million dollars to Associated Newspapers, which is the publisher of the Daily Mail newspaper. Prince Harry and the other claimants accused the Daily Mail of gathering private information, including the use of phone hacking and private investigators unlawfully. The judge argued that their allegations were purely speculative and that their conduct during the trial was unreasonable.
The initial payment is $13 million, but the total legal fees exceeded $34 million. The claimants, including Harry, could potentially owe more after the costs are finalized.
