Beloved actress and Country singer Dolly Parton died on August 25. Parton had such Country music hits as “9 to 5”, “Islands in the Stream”, and “Jolene”. She starred in blockbuster films with renowned roles in the movies “9 to 5” and “Steel Magnolias”. Her most famous recording was the number one hit song “I Will Always Love You”, which she took to number one, and Whitney Houston later sang and took it to number one again. It was the theme song for the movie “The Bodyguard”, starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner.
Condolences from the entire entertainment industry, from Jane Fonda and Taylor Swift to Beyonce, all of whom had worked with Parton.
Parton’s husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, died last year after a long illness. She had recently been diagnosed with cancer and silently battled the illness without going public. Parton was 80 years old.
