WHITE HOUSE NEWS – President Trump threatens executive order to eliminate mail-in voting

President Donald Trump announced plans to sign an executive order eliminating mail-in voting ahead of the 2026 midterms. Posting on Truth Social, Trump described the system as “corrupt” and said the change would “bring honesty” to U.S. elections. He also raised concerns about voting machines, calling them “highly inaccurate and controversial.”

Trump was quoted stating that states act as “agents of the federal government” in administering elections, though legal experts note that the Constitution grants states broad authority over voting procedures. Critics questioned whether the president has the power to mandate such a change. The announcement follows Trump’s claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin echoed his view, telling him mail-in ballots “rigged” the 2020 election.
