Electronic devices that cannot be powered up for screening by Transportation Security Administration officers will not be allowed on planes. A TSA press release sent out on Sunday stated that during security examinations, travelers could be asked to power up electronic devices, including cellphones. If the device is powerless, it will not be allowed on-board. Travelers with such devices may be required to undergo additional screening. “I have directed TSA to implement enhanced security measures in the coming days at certain overseas airports with direct flights to the United States. We will work to ensure these necessary steps pose as few disruptions to travelers as possible,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson.
