Chicago Bears backup quarterback Tyson Bagent capped a whirlwind week by engineering a stunning fourth-quarter comeback against the Kansas City Chiefs. Just 48 hours after breaking down in tears at a press conference announcing his new two-year, $10 million contract extension, Bagent rallied the Bears from 17 points down to secure a 29-27 preseason victory.

Playing the entire second half, the 25-year-old completed 20 of 28 passes for 212 yards, including three scoring drives in the final 15 minutes. With no timeouts and 87 yards to go in the final 1:29, Bagent led Chicago down the field, connecting three times with rookie receiver Jahdae Walker — a fellow undrafted Division II alum.

“Tyson trusts me and I trust Tyson. We’ve always had a good bond because we both came from D-II, so we know the struggle,” Walker said. “You could just tell how poised he was and how ready he was for the moment. He deserves everything that’s coming his way.”

The comeback builds on last week’s strong performance against the Bills, where Bagent also led three consecutive touchdown drives.

Off the field, Bagent reflected on his journey, recalling his father’s difficult upbringing in West Virginia without running water until high school. “There are definitely a lot of things and people that I think I could certainly help with this gift I’ve been blessed with,” Bagent said.
