President Obama pulls in $1 million for campaign and Democratic Party
President Barack Obama is bringing in roughly $1 million for his 2012 re-election campaign and for Democratic Party groups. On Thursday, President Obama was fundraising about a block from the White House, meeting with about two dozen supporters, each of whom gave $40,000. The gathering on Thursday was the third fundraiser for the president in two days. Obama raised cash at two campaign events on Wednesday in Michigan.
The proceeds of the fundraiser are divided between Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and various state party organizations. So far in this election cycle, President Obama, as of the end of March, has raised about $350 million for his re-election campaign and for the Democratic National Committee. Obama’s event on Thursday was closed to the press.
